When you call on Tana at C.D.I., you’re calling on a woman who can do just about anything with a paintbrush and a sewing needle. Tana has worked with decorators from all over the state, fauxed million dollar homes, decorated personal homes and businesses for the holidays. Bring her a picture of any window treatment and she can sew it! She has painted ceilings/walls/floors/canvases/furniture, has a portfolio an encyclopedia thick and some how still finds time to sleep {We are sure how much though!}. Tana Mills is a powerhouse when it comes to an eye for detail and can do just about anything a home needs to make it your personal haven. Trust Seek on this, Tana Mills can make plastic look like wood, a canvas look like a masterpiece and sew fabrics to look like they came straight out of that favorite decorators magazine you have sitting on your coffee table right now! “Seek the Triad” wants to share this gem of a secret… but you better hurry and get on her 2010 calendar, because she gets booked quick (you’ll see why after you watch her video montage below)!
The Oklahoma born, but self proclaimed Texas native, spent her growing up years in Denton, Texas, which is just north of Dallas. Her artistic ability was really noticed when she was nine years old and art lessons ensued. Obtaining a degree in Industrial Marketing, she set out in the corporate world in Dallas working for NCR Corp. She was always painting or drawing things for family. When she moved to North Carolina in her late 20’s her soon to be husband suggested that she should be making money with her talent. The rest is history in the making!
The name Countryside Designs, Inc. came about because it covered a number of things that Tana and her husband Vance would pursue in the years to follow in the small community of Ararat, NC.. The business started out as a sign company, with hand painted signage to a semi-large greenhouse business growing poinsettias, germaniums and Easter Mums. All the while, Tana’s art and design business was growing. It became apparent after about 12 years that something was “gonna have to give”. Tana focused on the art side of the business and the name changed to C.D.I.
Most people would question how one person can do all these things, and she is asked quite often….”Is there anything you don’t do?” Well, her answer is “I don’t play a musical instrument, but in all seriousness, the business has evolved into what it is now, learning and perfecting each skill along the way.”
Murals and Faux painting are probably her most loved works. She’ll tell you that she has painted on just about anything you can name. Sewing is a skill that Tana learned from her Mother, Carole, and through the years has become a seamstress that has been asked to do a Hospice Home as well as entire homes from window treatments to bedding. Framing started when her parents gave her a mat cutter years ago, and besides your typical framing, she actually takes older frames and makes them more in date with faux painting and new matting. Designing in people’s homes and businesses has evolved from all that she has done and the experience she has gained. Tana loves taking your ideas and turning them into realities for you!
