It is MJ here, your resident Green, Healthy, Natural, and whatever else kind of name you want to call me, girl! I’m super excited today to tell you about one of our latest sponsors N.I.C.E. and Green! First, let me give you a little background so you can truly appreciate the status of my carpet {sometimes before pictures just don’t do a situation justice~but I tried!}. My home is almost 8 years old and about 65% of it is a very light colored carpet that has only been professionally cleaned one time, about 6 years ago. In these 8 years we have had two children, a dog and recently a new puppy. Need I say more.

I had pretty much given up on my carpet. I had not had them professionally cleaned in so long because I’m very particular about chemicals and toxins in my house. I had just been in a holding pattern trying to decide if I should replace them or try to win the lottery so I could put down hardwoods. I was then introduced to N.I.C.E. and Green, a family owned business committed to providing carpet maintenance services that are safe for you, your family and pets. A service you can feel good about, and products that won’t harm the environment.

How we Clean
Clean=Restored=Longevity=Life Cycle Renewed
At N.I.C.E. and Green their mission is simple…Extend the life of your carpeting, while being Inviromnentally safe in doing so.
Despite what most people think, carpeting seldom wears out. Today’s carpet fibers are made of highly advanced materials which are designed to last in a variety of interiors. Unfortunately, we replace our carpeting far too often simply because it just doesn’t look good anymore.
Traditional carpet maintenance techniques can leave sticky residues which attract and hold more soil. Compound that over several cleanings, mix in a few juice or soda spills, and you have what we call the “lasagna effect” – layer upon layer of sticky soiled residue which works well to clean off the bottom of your shoes, but does little to improve the look or the longevity of your carpeting.
I invite you to check out their VERY informative website which describes the unique process and products that N.I.C.E. and Green uses. I think you will be amazed {like I was} that it is possible to restore your carpet and feel safe about it in the process! I’m so happy that Chris throughly did all the product research and documents it so well on his site. They have definitely gained a lifetime customer in me!~MJ
N.I.C.E. and Green Product Criteria
When it comes to selecting chemistry to clean and/or restore your floor covering, we spare no expense in researching, locating, and testing not only the efficacy and anti-re-soil/stain claims, but more importantly, their safety and environmental impact. Our research led us to develop a very stringent set of rules which each and every chemical manufacturer who wishes to do business with N.I.C.E. and Green must meet.
1. All products must be Carpet and Rug Institute approved (CRI).
2. Product manufacturers’ must have obtained Green Seal, Environmentally Preferred Product, or provide verification that their product has been tested and approved by the EPA to contain no harmful chemicals. (humans, animals, plants, water)
3. Pre-Spray and Low Moisture Encapsulating detergents must be designed to work equally well when mixed with hot or cold water.
4. Pre-Spry and Low Moisture Encapsulating detergents must have high efficacy ratings, anti-stain/anti-resoil properties incorporated within the detergent, or must have a system where anti-stain/anti-resoil chemistry can be added without affecting the environmental impact of the detergent.
5. Products must be backed by manufacturers with a solid history of providing first rate and time tested products.

We’d like to put our house on the market later this year, and I’ve been wondering if I’ll have to replace the carpets. I’d love to give Chris a chance to work his magic.
