Meet Katie Wall, your Greensboro art guide:
With so much going on in Greensboro’s art world, it’s hard to know where to start. That’s why I’m here to help! As a local artist, I’ll scour the town for you, revealing all my art tips and secrets right here on Seek The Triad. This spring I’ve got my eye on all things artsy-fartsy and related to Mother’s Day. It’s coming up faster than you think so check back next Friday to gush over “Mama-medals” and other fabulous art jewelry by Suzi Cook.
As for me, I am a painter of all things vivid, colorful and breathtaking. It’s my job to take those moments that leave you awe-struck in the wild wonder of beauty and turn them into oil paintings that you can keep in your home forever.
Sometimes inspiration hits me at the strangest moments. Early this year I was shivering my butt off, waiting for my heater to kick on in the Mazda, when I realized how beautiful the morning fog looked on an otherwise miserably cold and messy day. After errands, I came home and mixed up this color palette for my latest fog painting. It’s a challenge to get the right pale shade of color for the sky and even more of a challenge to get the subtle color variations of the trees. My favorite part of this picture is the way the sunshine glows from behind the foggy mist. Even on such a cold yucky day, it’s warmth and happy-yellow are obvious.
My studio is filled to the brim with paintings from my latest project, “The Vivid Fog.” You can find a sneak peak on my website at www.katiewall.com, and you can see them in person at Circa Gallery in Asheboro May 14-June 4. Meet me at the artist reception May 14, 5-8 p.m.
